The tinted folks were ok when they were in this show...but once it closed, and they had nothing to do. That's when the trouble started when they started roaming the streets...🤔🤔🤔
❤😊🎉Happy and pleasant tune!
😍
A valiant effort from Russ but it’s sadly no substitute for the original version from Joe Henderson which is still fresh even now.
Yes, probably the case. More one of his later 'throw away' recordings. Laurie Holloway also did a nice version in the 1970s.
@@wordsmith52 …I’m glad you said that, I didn’t want to be too scathing…🤭
Well logic usually (but not always) dictates that the original artist's version is the best. Russ should have been able to do better in any case, but I suspect that age and condition had caught up with him in this case. Maybe he did a better cover version in the late 1950s or early 1960s? @@IVORIESMAN
@@wordsmith52 …no - anyway would have been too close to Joe’s ‘59 release.
@@IVORIESMAN Hmm ... it doesn't always pay lol ...
I read Peter Cheney so the Meet mr Callaghan is much appreciated!
Love the Temperance Seven......great upload!
I wish it had actually been a video of him playing this. I always love watching him play and his extravagant outfits he always used to wear. 🙂
Brings back so many lovely memories thank you
Quite agree! The double DJ's nightmare often manifested itself on the BBC radio programmes, including the Sunday charts slot.
Fab old number and band!😍🙂
Great number from this outfit - a breath of fresh air at a time when we were all waiting for the mersey invasion. Particularly like the dead-pan approach and the wonderful double DJ's nightmare.
I've loved this piece since I was a kid. I especially love Liberace's version.
When the world was a real easy going place radio had sum great programmes not like the crap today
@@michaelbarry8444 So true!
Poor Sandy McPherson, when the BBC launched the Home Service in September 1939, they literally had no new programming ready, as they were expecting London to be bombed. Sandy was nearly chained to his theatre organ, and played so much, to fill the vacant hours of regular programming. Thankfully by early October 1939 normal programming resumed.
Another interesting version for piano and orchestra. I prefer Mantovani's version with what sounds like 2 pianos. I love the glittering arpeggi especially of the piano playing - ascending AND descending.
👏👏👏👏😍 wonderfull!! 😪👏👏👏👏
The best time to listen to this song is on a quiet Sunday morning.
Love this piece so much, and Liberace was a great pianist. The man was a gentle soul, somewhat misunderstood, criticised by the classical community, but a brilliant entertainer & showman who just wanted to share his love with his audience.
So true!
Extraordinary not just as history but for Frank at his early best. Contrast the confidence here - the sweet swagger - with the earlier "experimental" Bluebird recording that was among Frank’s first solo platters. There’s also a colorized film on UA-cam that someone shot in ‘43 at a Bronx high school. My dad happened to be there before shipping off for the Navy. This was Jerome Kern’s favorite song and Sinatra kept singing it - sometimes swinging it - throughout his career but this is my favorite take. Thanks so much for posting.
Thanks for your comments and info. Yes, it's a great number and FS did a marvelous job of it. The emotion of the occasion may have influenced his performnce too. I had it played at a funeral service for a family member some time ago and it went down well.
@@wordsmith52 Sorry for your loss. No better eulogy than the song was you.
Kunz played with such subtlety and elegance. His great sense of rhythm and sensitive touch were highly captivating.
One more time!❤😅
…so that’s what they looked like..😊 I remember this well but I think for the Burl Ives version. M&G just snuck in before Liverpool burst on the scene, along with so many others back then.
It was very much mums' and dads' music even back then - they were popular (mainly in the UK only) due to their luvvie dovie and softly softly approach. Lonny Donnigan helped to promote them [he is seen at the begining of the film playing a guitar].
😪❤👍
Absolute class.
❤❤nice WordPress and singing😊😊🎉🎉
Frank Sinatra at his very best…
Agreed. At around 30 his voice was starting to take on a less youthful and more mature tone and style.
😗😗💢💢❤❤
This is beautiful! I've always loved this song, and Liberace's version is my favorite ❤
❤❤😮😮😊😊🎉🎉memorias !
Reminds me of my dear ol’ Gran listening to the wireless on her Radio Rentals valve set.
Just as it should be, by jingo! [By the by, what happened to your recent upload? YT says it is 'unavailable' ... copyright issues again ... ?]
@@wordsmith52 I was wondering why there had been no activity. Everything was fine when I uploaded it and I’ve checked it over and there are no unusual copyright issues. I’ll try deleting and re-uploading…thanks Steve.
PS. Just tried again - Something in a far corner of my mind tells me I attempted to upload this one in the past and had the same problem then...
@@IVORIESMAN Maybe blocked in certain 'territories' only, Joe - and YT have not properly notified you. I looked under the comments sections and it said "comments blocked"! Something odd happening with YT again it seems. Have had similar issues myself lately with 'low activity' for no apparrent reason. It's very frustrating and time consuming.
@@wordsmith52 …I reckon you’ve hit the nail on the head there Steve. I’ll see if the re-upload yields any results, if not I guess I’ll chalk it up as an ‘anomaly’ and move on…

I absolutely love this! 😁😁👍👍🎵🎵❤❤
❤❤Greece1960 ... not Grease1976! lol!😅😅🎉🎉
I didn't realise this was originally composed for piano. A nice enough arrangement of a very catchy melody but disappointing that Laurie succumbed to the temptation to fade out at the end.
These LP compilations were more the K-Tel Woolworths type stuff (which is where I bought my copy) for parties and very easy listening etc. The question of 'fading' seemed superfluous and I fail to see what difference it would have made anyway under the circumatances. Still, each to their own ... 😄
❤Any day is YT day! ... lol!😊🎉
Wow Liberace ,you can hear all kind of musics even R.A.P. rock etc...
